His Excellency Major General (Ret'd) Antony Anderson
Ambassador of Jamaica to the United States of America and
Permanent Representative of Jamaica to the
Organization of American States (OAS)

His Excellency Major General (Ret'd) Antony Anderson currently serves as Jamaica's fourteenth Ambassador to the United States of America and as the Permanent Representative of Jamaica to the Organization of American States (OAS). He officially assumed duties on 28th May 2025, at the Embassy of Jamaica in Washington, D.C.

Ambassador Anderson brings to the role a distinguished career in national security and defence. Prior to his diplomatic appointment, he served as Commissioner of Police of the Jamaica Constabulary Force from March 2018 to March 2024. Before that, he was Jamaica's first National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister and Cabinet from December 2016 to March 2018, and Chief of Defence Staff of the Jamaica Defence Force from October 2010 to November 2016.

With a career spanning several decades, Ambassador Anderson has earned a reputation for strategic leadership in both domestic and regional security. As Commissioner of Police, he led transformational changes within the Jamaica Constabulary Force, driving the modernisation of operations through enhanced technology, organisational reform, and improved public safety mechanisms. His leadership also played a key role in the development of Jamaica's national security policy and the advancement of international security partnerships.

His appointment underscores Jamaica's commitment to leveraging experienced leadership in key diplomatic positions. Ambassador Anderson has long been instrumental in fostering regional cooperation, having led and advised on various multinational security operations throughout the Caribbean.

In recognition of his exceptional service, Ambassador Anderson has received numerous national and international accolades.

  • Key to Broward County, Florida (2020)

  • Member of the Order of Distinction, Commander Class (2012)
  • Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012)
  • Member of the Order of Distinction, Officer Class (2009)
  • Medal of Honour for Meritorious Service (2002)

Ambassador Anderson holds a Master of Defence Administration degree from the Royal Military College of Science, Shrivenham, and a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom.
